Who is this man?

Genesis 32:24 says, “And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

32:25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.”  So Jacob was alone and then he wrestled a man who came from… where? Genesis 32:30 says, “And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”  Are we to believe through this very horribly written text that Jacob is wrestling god?  You’d think god would crush him with a thought.  Why would god possibly be wrestling him?  To touch his thigh so Jews wont eat the sinew?  Nobody in any culture eats sinew.  Couldn’t god have just said, “Jacob, by the way, don’t eat sinew?"

  1. Then of course there is the "god is an alien" theory. It's every bit as believable as the bible. Maybe even more believable.

  2. I like this theory. Some alien kid is taking us to a science fair.
