The true Ten Commandments as written in KJV Exodus

34:17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.

34:18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

34:19 All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.

34:20 But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.

34:21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

34:22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

34:23 Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel.

34:24 For I will cast out the nations before t

hee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

34:25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

34:26 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

34:27 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

34:28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

I am really blown away.  This isn’t what is written on the courthouse walls.  Those were ten of the one hundred odd judgments.

Gods name is Jealous

Exodus 34:14 says, “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:” I thought his name was Jehovah?  There must be other gods or he wouldn’t be jealous.

God knows Moses’ name

Exodus 33:17 says, “And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.”  Shouldn’t he know Moses’ name?  He has spoken to him for years and even created him.

Moses orders killings

Exodus 32:26 says, “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

32:27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.

32:28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.”  I thought breaking the stone tablets was over reacting.  Killing about three thousand men is just plain crazy.  They must really fear Jehovah.  Isn’t it odd that for the people breaking a judgment (Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”) Moses breaks another judgment (Exodus 20:13 “Thou shalt not kill.”)   Is god aware of all of these violations of his rules?  The funny thing is that all of the children of the men who worshipped these other gods will be punished by Jehovah. Exodus 20:5 “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me”  Even Aaron.

Moses breaks gods tablets

Exodus 32:19 says, “And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.”  Moses really overreacted.  Those weren’t just any tablets.  Exodus 32:16 “And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.”  I think I would have been more careful with them.  It could have been the nudity that pushed him over the edge. Exodus 32:25 “And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)”

He was just gone forty days?

Exodus 32:2 says, “And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

32:3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

32:4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt..”  Moses is gone forty days and Aaron builds a new god?  God picked a real winner for his choice as to the head minister of the tabernacle.

Tabernacle of horror

Exodus 29:42 says, “This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.”  This is aside from the altar.  The smell of burning flesh and the blood would be horrible.  Exodus 29:43 “And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.”  The god of Moses sounds horrible that he would call this slaughterhouse his glory.  What kind of god is he?

A bloody tabernacle is ordered by god

Exodus 29:36 says, “And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.”  What a bloody altar it would be because it is made of wood.  The blood would sink into the wood and be full of germs and stench.  The whole Tabernacle is wood so sacrificing animals would just make it worse.  But how would Aaron go up to the altar?  Exodus 20:26 “Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.”

God has Moses break another judgment

Exodus 25:18 says, “And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.”  I thought making imagery was bad.  Exodus 20:4 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”  So god is telling Moses to break another of his judgments. Cherubim are from heaven.  He even has them replicating things from the earth below.  Exodus 25:33 “Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick.

25:34 And in the candlesticks shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.”

Forty days for a couple of stone tablets?

Exodus 24:18 says, “And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.”  I hope Moses took food and water.  God sometimes forgets those things.  Why so long for a couple of stone tablets?  God made everything in just a few days.

Book of the Covenant

Exodus 24:7 says, “And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.”  So, what the people take as the ten commandments is actually the Book of the Covenant.  This is getting strange.

More gods

Exodus 23:32 says, “Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

23:33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.”  The other gods must be real or he wouldn’t be afraid of Moses people making covenants with them.

Other gods

Exodus 23:24 says, “Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.”  What is gods obsession with other gods?

Angels

Exodus 23:20 says, “Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.”  I believe this is the second time I have read the term angels and not as the angel of god.  God must have just created angels.  Remember, he was alone in the void.  I wonder why he created the angels?  Maybe he realized he couldn’t keep track of everything and made them as helpers?

More than one god yet again.

Exodus 23:13 says, “And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.”  More than one god again?  How many are there?

Let the fields rest.

Exodus 23:11 says, “But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.”  If you do nothing to your field in the seventh year what will grow there?  That is going to be one hungry year.  Where is Joseph when you need him?

No Gifts

Exodus 23:8 says, “And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.”  I guess that Christians should stop giving and receiving gifts.  This will give a new meaning to Christmas gifts.  Didn’t Mary receive gifts from the wise men?

Liquor?

Exodus 22:29 says, “Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.”  God wants the first of their liquors?  Why.  Shouldn’t he curse that?  Liquor has caused so many problems in society.

More than one god…

Exodus 22:28 says, “Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.” Gods. Plural.  Didn’t god just say Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” But you shouldn’t hate the other gods?  This makes no sense.

More gods again

Exodus 22:20 says, “He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.”  What other gods? But this is directly against Exodus 22:21 “Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt” Wouldn’t this be oppression?  The Egyptians let the Israelites believe in Jehovah.

Don’t beat your servant to death

Exodus 21:20 says, “And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he (it should say “or she” but I guess women have no value in the bible) die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

21:21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.”  It is Ok to beat your servants with a rod, just not to death.  You can even do it for days.  Just don’t break your servants teeth or harm his or her eye. Exodus 21:26 “And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.

21:27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.”

God aids killers?

Exodus 21:12 says, “He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

21:13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

21:14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.”  God wants killers put to death unless they do not lie in wait (plot it.)  If they don’t lie in wait god will send the victom to him and provide a place for him to flee to?  This bends the rules of Exodus 20:13 “Thou shalt not kill.”

Women mistreated again

Exodus 21:7 says, “And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

21:8 If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her”  Not only is a woman who is sold into slavery kept forever but if her husband isn’t happy with her he can just sell her off again.  That is one way to get around the Exodus 20:14 “Thou shalt not commit adultery” judgment.  How do women read this stuff and find any comfort in this god?

Buying Hebrew servants?

Exodus 21:2 says, “If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

21:3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

21:4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

21:5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

21:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.”  I thought they had just survived the exodus from Egypt, but why would they be buying and selling each other so readily?  It reads that if you are a girl sold into servitude it is forever.  That would be slavery.  Why would god tolerate this?  Women have no value in this book once again.  Why would any of these people need servants?  They just got all that wealth from the Egyptians a few months ago.  Exodus 12:35 “And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:” Shouldn’t they all have money?  They have free food (Manna.)

Cursed burnt offerings

Exodus 20:24 says, “An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.”  I thought god only wanted the best of cattle used for burnt offerings.  But in Genesis he said cattle are cursed.  He wants perfect cursed animals offered to him?

Cattle shouldn’t work on the Sabbath.

Exodus 20:9 says, “Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:

20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:”  How many women cook dinner on the Sabbath?  How many people shop?  Remember, no one is to work, whether he is a stranger to you or not.  The kicker here is that your cattle aren’t even to work.

Jealous God. More gods once again

Exodus 20:5 says, “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;”  What is he jealous of?  Why punish the children of the offender?  At least god is consistent in this.

No Images at all

Exodus 20:4 says, “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”  God could have simplified this judgment by saying don’t make any images at all.  How could anyone make imagery of heaven if you don’t know what it like?  So far all these people know is that fire and brimstone come from up there.

More than one god again?

Exodus 20:3 says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”  Why would you not want any god to be put before you if there were no other real gods?

Not the “ten commandments”

Exodus 20:1 says, “And God spake all these words, saying,

20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:

20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

20:18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
”  Are these the ten commandments?  It sure sounds like the ones I learned in Sunday school.  It is odd that the bible does not call these the “ten commandments.”  The bible calls these just some judgments from the lord.  Wouldn’t it have been better if god had just told the Israelites these things?  The funny thing is that Moses already had broken the killing one several times and the stealing one when they left Egypt.  Exodus 12:35 “And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:.  Most of which were at gods direct orders.  Remember when he fought with Amalek.  Exodus 20:23 through 23:19 are all bunch of other judgments god told Moses to say.  There are 90 of them to be exact.  So maybe these are the 100 judgments of god?

Why fear god’s voice?

Exodus20:19 says, “And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.”  Why do Moses’ people fear gods voice?  Exodus 20:22 says, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.” We have seen that god did speak to them and none have died yet.  Moses has spoken to him a lot of times and he is still around.

Why didn’t god just tell all the people when he had the chance? God forgets

Exodus 19:11 says, “And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

19:12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

19:13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

19:14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

19:15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.

19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

19:17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

19:19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

19:20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

19:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

19:22 And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

19:23 And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

19:24 And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

19:25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.”  Why the big runaround?  The people got all ready to listen to god.  They could see his power and hear him call Moses up to the top of the mountain, then he sends Moses down and has the whole process start again.  Then he doesn’t talk to them.  He even forgets that the priests cannot go through the bounds around the mountains.  But he does want Aaron to go beyond the boundary.

God should have thought of this

Exodus 18:13 says, “And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

18:14 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

18:15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to inquire of God:

18:16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

18:17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

18:18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

18:19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

18:20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

18:22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

18:23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

18:24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

18:25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

18:26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.”  Don’t you think god could have come up with this idea.  All these Israelites and god only deals with Moses.  Aaron could have done this chore.  Once again I have to ask: is god paying attention?  Moses is being stretched to thin. Or maybe he is a control freak?  Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, comes up with this idea and they form a system of judges.  Moses made it sound like his answers were divinely driven so now god must be finally going to talk with other Hebrews.

More than one god again.

Exodus 18:11 says, “Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them”  At this point I am believing there must be more than one god out there somewhere.  I hope there is a loving one.  Jehovah is a homicidal bully so far in this book.

Moses sent his wife and kids away?

Exodus 18:1 says, “When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;

18:2 Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,

18:3 And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:”  First I must ask how Moses’ father-in-law had heard of what god had done?  The Israelites were wandering in the wild and the Egyptian men were killed.  But my real question is in the Middle of the exodus Moses sent his wife and kids back to his father-in-law?  I guess they weren’t lost in the wilderness.

God didn’t think this through

Exodus 17:14 says, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”  If Moses writes this in a book and we are reading it now I don’t think god put Amalek out of remembrance?  Especially if you read Exodus 17:16 “For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”  How do you have war with Amalek from generation to generation without remembering it.  You would have to wipe them out.

Why torture Moses?

Exodus 17:9 says, “And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

17:10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

17:11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

17:12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”  Why did Moses have to hold up the rod?  God killed the Egyptians while clearing his nose.  This is just torture.  Luckily, Moses figured out how to cheat the system.

Law Breakers. God doesn’t know again? Is he paying attention?

Exodus 17:1 say, “And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

17:2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?”  Once again the Hebrew’s have law-breakers.  In their defense they are suffering from thirst.  It just seems like the lord is not paying attention.  Is he busy with something else?  Maybe that is why prayer doesn’t always work.  Maybe he can’t be everywhere?  I can see why the Israelites said in Exodus 17:7 “And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?”  Although the mana, raining from the sky, should be an indicator of his presence.

Breaking the laws yet again

Exodus 16:27 says, “And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.

16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?”  Isn’t it time god fulfills his threat to make the law-breakers sick?

Breaking the laws again

Exodus 16:20 says, “Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.”  Can they follow the word of god for one moment?

Law-breakers already? God doesn’t know again.

Exodus 16:3 says, “And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”  I thought the lord was going to bring disease to the people who did not walk in his laws?  Did he forget?  Funny, he only forgets when the Hebrew’s break his laws.  Then again, you would think an all-knowing god would have thought to feed his people.

Do what I say or else, fear again.

Exodus 15:26 says, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”  If you don’t do what I say I’ll make you sick?  No wonder they grumbled a lot.  That is no way to lead people and gain their loyalty or love.

Prophetess?

Exodus 15:20 says, “And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.” Prophetess?  When the Israelites were fearing shouldn’t she have known what would happen?  It is easy to make a prophesy after the fact like Miriam did.  Although it is nice that they finally made a woman empowered.

Gods? More than one, again?

Exodus 15:11 says, “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”  Among the gods infers more than one god.  I have read this a few times before.  Are there other gods?  This statement does not lead one to believe that the others are false gods.

His Nostrils?

Exodus 15:8 says, “And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.”  He gathered the water with a blast from his nostrils?  What?

The lord is a man of war

Exodus 15:3 says, “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.”  I thought the lord was a loving god.  I guess if he created you an Egyptian he isn’t.  Why would an omniscient creator god need or want to be a man of war?  And why would he be called a man.  Besides, his name isn’t LORD.  It is JEHOVAH.  The Hebrew’s are very forgetful.

When does the loving start?

Exodus 14:31 says, “And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses” All I see so far in the bible is a lot of people fearing this god character.  When does he become the loving god?

How did he do that?

Exodus 14:21 says, “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.”  Wouldn’t that take wind from both the east and the west?  Wind blowing one direction would only produce one wall.

They will know?

Exodus 14:18 says, “And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.”  Yep, they’ll know it was you lord, for all of about two seconds.  That is when the water will crash into them and they will all drown.  Another poorly thought-out plan, lord.  I just wish the horses didn’t have to pay for the crimes of the Egyptians.

Silly Hebrews

Exodus 14:11 says, “And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?”  First, I don’t understand the part where they tell Moses there are no graves in Egypt?  What are they saying?  Egyptian culture was all about the after-life.  Or did they all take the bones of their ancestors like Moses did of Joseph?  That would make for a stinky exodus.  Hebrews obviously died in Egypt.  Many wouldn’t have survived the seven days without water let alone the severe servitude to their Egyptian taskmasters.  But then why are they worried about Pharaoh?  They are being led by their god in the form of a pillar of fire.  I don’t think I would have been to concerned.  Then again gods ideas of punishing the Egyptians usually tortures the Hebrews as well.
