Exodus 14:11 says, “And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?” First, I don’t understand the part where they tell Moses there are no graves in Egypt? What are they saying? Egyptian culture was all about the after-life. Or did they all take the bones of their ancestors like Moses did of Joseph? That would make for a stinky exodus. Hebrews obviously died in Egypt. Many wouldn’t have survived the seven days without water let alone the severe servitude to their Egyptian taskmasters. But then why are they worried about Pharaoh? They are being led by their god in the form of a pillar of fire. I don’t think I would have been to concerned. Then again gods ideas of punishing the Egyptians usually tortures the Hebrews as well.
