A bloody tabernacle is ordered by god

Exodus 29:36 says, “And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.”  What a bloody altar it would be because it is made of wood.  The blood would sink into the wood and be full of germs and stench.  The whole Tabernacle is wood so sacrificing animals would just make it worse.  But how would Aaron go up to the altar?  Exodus 20:26 “Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.”
