Judah wants to burn his harlot

Genesis 38:24 said, “And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.”  Judah’s daughter-in-law is revealed as the harlot Judah slept with and that she is pregnant.  She is also called a whore.  His reaction is to want to burn her?  What kind of book is this bible?
