This book is full of double standards. Moses murders and that is Ok because god murders shortly there after. God then has Aaron do miracles, that every Sunday school lesson attributes to Moses, while systematically torturing the Egyptians whom he later kills anyways so the lessons he taught them, while he was inflicting them with plaques and the like, are meaningless because they die in the red sea.
Meanwhile God neglects the Hebrews while they wander the desert making them beg for food and water. He then issues judgments, which modern people take as the Ten Commandments. He even writes the Ten Commandments down and still modern people get it wrong. He even calls them the Ten Commandments and we don’t know what they are (you can read about them here in an earlier post.) During this time the Hebrews and Moses break many of gods judgments. God even directs them to violate his rules. Then the chosen people are directed to create a tabernacle for god to live in. A bloody place of burnt offerings.
I am still in search of the gentle god who loves us in this book but have only seen a jealous god among many other gods who loves spilled blood and burnt offerings. Excuse me if I will not bow to this bloodthirsty maniac.
