God hates fatherless children

Deuteronomy 23:2 says, "A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD."  Why wouldn't god love children who have no married father?  Why's he so picky?  It isn't the kids fault.

God hates men who injure their balls

Deuteronomy 23:1 says, "He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD." First, I have to say ouch.  Then, why would god cast out someone who gets his testicles hurt?  Or worse yet his penis cut off.  I don't get it. 

Fathers have tokens of girls virginity

Deuteronomy 22:15 says, "Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:"  I just want to know what tokens of a girls virginity are?  

God hates linen-wool blends

Deuteronomy 22:11 says, "Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together."  If you go clothes shopping you had better beware of this.  Many clothes have this blend.  Did god know that we would loosely call cotton in a linen style weave linen?  I believe yarn made of linen and woll is called linsey- woolsey.

God says men should wear dresses!

Deuteronomy 22:5 says, "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God."  Now let me get this straight.  Back in those days men wore tunics.  Does this mean that men should wear the equivalent of skirts?  Did people wear pants in those days?  When were those days?

Stone the drunkards!!! Hey that's punny.

Deuteronomy 21:19 says, "Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. 21:21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear."  I hate to remind god but wasn't Noah a drunk.  The first thing he did after landing on dry land was to sacrifice one of each of the animals?  A smart thing to do when you brought only two of which you wanted them to mate.  Then he got drunk and poor Ham had to see him naked.  By reading this I guess Ham should have stoned Noah who it seems was already stoned?

This is a loving god? Killing children again...

Deuteronomy 20:16 says, "But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: 20:17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: 20:18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God."  So this is the loving god who created even the people who he wants utterly destroyed?  Why doesn't he show himself to these heathens and set them straight?  I don't get it?  I wouldn't want women or children killed.  I don't want anybody killed.  Does this make me better than god?

Once again, god acts like women are cattle

Deuteronomy 20:14 says, "But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee."  Once again, god acts like women are cattle.  Spoils of war.  Just take them and use them for whatever you want.

It's easier than building the cities...

Deuteronomy 19:7 says, "Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.  19:8 And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;"  I guess invading people and taking their city is easier than building your own cities.  I just don't understand how god let these squatters build anything on land he promised the Israelites.  Seems like poor planning on gods part.  That is unless he wanted these people who he made but doesn't love just to make the cities for his favorite people.  

Is god repeating himself?

Deuteronomy 19:4 says, "And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbor ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; 19:5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: 19:6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past"  God said this same thing earlier almost word for word.  Is he absent minded or did he forget?  I mean if he is trying to emphasize something why would he emphasize that if you are in an accident run to a different city to protect yourself from the people who he told not to kill.  It just doesn't make sense to me.  It was an accident!  

God forgets again?

Deuteronomy 19:3 says, "Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither."  Didn't god write a commandment that said "Thou shall not kill?"  Did he forget that he made a blanket statement?  Now he just shifts killers around to different cities. Guess he never heard of a serial killer?  

Not a good parenting tip

Deuteronomy 21:18 says, "If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:  21:19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;  21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.  21:21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear."  I somehow don't feel that this is a good model for parents to follow.  How many of God's chosen so far were drunkards.  The first name that pops into my head is Noah.  Should he have been stoned?

Women mean nothing to Christian God.

Deuteronomy 21:10 says, "When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,  21:11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;  21:12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;  21:13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife."  If God cared about women shouldn't he give her some of the choice?  Instead she is treated like a mule.  I understand she is a captive but I have read nothing that makes me believe women of Israel are treated any differently.  And you can see, I have been reading.  Why would any woman believe in a god who hates her?

People of Israel are always innocent

Deuteronomy 21:8 says, "Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.  21:9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD."  The only blood that God seems to care about is Human.  They just spilled innocent heifer blood.  This statement implies that the victim killed in 21:1 was innocent because he was an Israeli. From what I have read so far what is right in the eyes of the lord is pretty tainted and in many cases evil and twisted.  Very few times has it been fair. 

Just Kill a Heifer and it will be ok

Deuteronomy 21:1 says,  "If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:  21:2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:  21:3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;  21:4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:  21:5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:  21:6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:  21:7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it."  Umm... What did the heifer do?  Why does God insist on killing innocent animals.  what does this prove?  The elders wash their hands over it.  Couldn't they have left the animal alive for that?  And since when does a corpses proximity to a city prove that the guilty person lies in the city?  Shouldn't they investigate the crime and leave the poor innocent heifer alone?

Kill them all!!!

Deuteronomy 20:17 says, "But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:"  If God killed everyone in the flood why would there be other people on the earth?  Why would he want them killed? These people had to have been born from the Israelites, so why would a loving God forsake them and not speak and guide them like he did others? 

God tells them to sack cities

Deuteronomy 20:13 says, “And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:

20:14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.” So god is basically saying kill all the men and take everything else for yourself. Women, children, everything. Why do women believe in this book? They are meer cattle to this god. Possessions.

God Doesn’t know again…

Deuteronomy 19:8 says, “And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;” Why would god need to enlarge anything. Shouldn’t he know exactly how big to make things?

God isn’t smart!

Deuteronomy 19:1 says, “When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;

19:2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

19:3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

19:4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbor ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;

19:5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:

19:7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.” So, let me distill this down. Make three cities in the area I give to to you to take violently from other people I made and set these cities aside for people who accidentally murder other people to hide out in. Do I have that right? Ummm… god? Aren’t you telling the avenger almost exactly where to look? At least narrowing it down to three places? That doesn’t sound very smart.

Is God confused?

Deuteronomy 18:21 says, “And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” I thought he said That person would die so why would we need him to tell us not to be afraid of him? Is god confused?
